Function/Duties of Position

• Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: quality assessment and monitoring; process improvement and ongoing monitoring; maintenance of practice standards, compliance with accreditation standards and applicable laws and regulations. Additional responsibilities include customer service, coordination of pharmacy services with other hospital departments, and initial/ongoing competency of staff through hands on training.
• This position will coordinate the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program and will work directly with the specific REMS programs to pursue procurement and compliance with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards, applicable laws and regulations. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining outpatient REMS documents as well as overseeing appropriate REMS required auditing takes place.
• This position will also provide outpatient pharmacy insurance support with external and internal commercial client audits, mitigate risk or validate potential errors in pharmacy benefit administration. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining outpatient insurance audit documentation as well as overseeing charge backs.
• As time allows, this position will be responsible for conducting day-to-day operations to ensure technician accountability and accuracy of standard operating procedures. Conducting day-to-day operations may include participation in and/or auditing the following activities: sterile product admixture/preparation, automated inventory maintenance of controlled and non-controlled medications, narcotic discrepancy reconciliation, pharmacy computer system order entry, clinic audits, supply ordering, medication delivery, regulatory compliance recordkeeping, utilization of pharmacy-related technology, and performing other duties as assigned. This position works under direct supervision of pharmacists who are responsible for the safe and proper distribution and use of drugs in inpatients and outpatients who range in age from neonates, infants <1 year old, children and adolescents ages 1-18 adults ages 19-65, and the elderly age >65.

Required Qualifications

• Five years of experience with responsibility for program or project monitoring and coordination in a pharmacy setting. The experience must have included program evaluation responsibility.
• A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a field directly related to the position will substitute for two years of the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal pharmacy technician training program
• Nationally certified pharmacy technician
• Both inpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy experience
• Medical and scientific nomenclature
• Familiarity with Epic
• Familiarity with pharmacy workflows and medication orders processing and dispensing
• Oregon State Board of Pharmacy Technician license
