This key role will manage the human and animal food consulting activities within EAS Consulting Group, LLC. You will function as a regulatory and business development leader of the food segment in accordance with EAS’s mission and goals. This responsibility includes maintaining close working relationships with members of the EAS management and support teams, our clients, contract consultants and professional organizations with a similar scope and audience. You will provide a high level of quality, communication and consistency for the group’s food consulting, submissions, and regulatory services to clients. Essential Functions • Facilitate consulting services for clients regarding food regulatory and compliance requirements. Oversight includes food safety, submissions, and various regulatory intelligence under the purview of FDA, USDA, EPA, OSHA, FTC as well as various state agencies with responsibilities for regulating foods. • Maintain EAS’s reputation as an industry leader in food regulatory consulting, submissions, as well as development and incorporation of advanced consulting tools. • Collaborate with EAS senior management on business development and growth plans (short & long term) inclusive of marketing strategies and new business opportunities. • Research new opportunities for the growth of EAS food consulting services. • Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems. • Ability to communicate financial and goal results related to key performance indicators. • Accountable for the day-to-day management of food regulatory consulting services, submissions, and intelligence activities. • Act as point of contact and maintains a collaborative relationship for new and current food clients and regulatory authorities, as well as senior managers within the EAS and its parent organization. • Prepare proposals and statements of work (SOW) for food clients and facilitates bringing new clients under contract. • Identify and assign appropriate EAS contractors to client projects based on their regulatory, technical and industry knowledge. • Work with existing client base to retain and advance relationships. • May support submissions to the FDA including but not limited to: GRAS notices, NDIs, food and color additive petitions, health claim petitions, and new infant formula notices as well as submissions to foreign food regulatory bodies in Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Europe, and Asia. • Work with the marketing staff to create new opportunities for training/educational programs targeted to the food industries. • Support EAS marketing efforts through the authoring of articles for publication and participation in domestic and international speaking events on food regulatory issues. Encourages contractors to participate in business development through same. • Represent and market EAS by attending industry tradeshows and conferences. • Routinely monitor and/or oversee the monitoring of Federal Register notices. • Oversee Freedom of Information requests on behalf of clients. • Research, locate, identify, and obtain information from FDA’s Dockets Management Branch Office, as necessary. • Assist with EAS’s electronic newsletter, EAS-e-News on food matters by providing input.
BS degree (advanced degree preferred) in the health, biological or chemical sciences, along with a strong educational background in the regulatory compliance aspects of human and animal food. • Must have a minimum of 15 years of food compliance and regulatory experience and a working knowledge of current US FDA and USDA regulations. • Strong working compliance background in in all food areas regulated by FDA and USDA. Prior FDA or State food regulatory work history is preferred, however industry experience working closely with the FDA and USDA, or in a consulting firm in a senior management position may is also acceptable. • Excellent leadership, decision making, and business development skills are required. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple on-going concurrent projects, • Must be able to identify and articulate client challenges and oversee management of consultants and projects each with specific requirements.
