The primary purpose of this position is to provide support for clinical research and technical assistance in the research trials conducted by the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. This position assists with administrative and patient care activities required by the research studies. The incumbent will have knowledge of all study protocols, recruit study participants and perform patient testing as directed by the physician/Principal Investigator in accordance with Food and Drug Administration, ECU Institutional Review Board, study sponsor and principal investigator guidelines and regulations. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to case manage patients, document history, schedule testing and maintain open communication with patients and physicians. The incumbent will knowledgeable about the rights of patients as study subjects, maintain required study records, educate patients and conduct clinical procedures and interact with study sponsor representatives (pharmaceutical companies, private foundations, NIH, etc.) as directed by Division physicians. This individual is responsible to the supervisor.
