KGI and AveXis are proud to announce a 24-month fellowship with AveXis designed to provide pharmacists with a broad exposure to medical information. The Fellowship provides an opportunity to learn the skills and experiences necessary to excel as a pharmacist in scientific communications, a key function in any biopharmaceutical company. The fellowship will be based out of the AveXisoffices in Bannockburn, Illinois.
Provide unbiased scientifically balanced information on AveXis products to healtcare providers and patients
Support Medical Affairs by providing product and drug information expertise on a wide range on initiatives included medical review of promotional materials. staffing medical booth at scientific meetings and conferences and consulting on cross-functional activites
Develop strong literature searching skills and critically appraise published and unpublished clinical data regarding marketed and investigational products and/or therapeutic areas interests at AveXis
Support the overall operational function of a medical information department by participating in process improvement initiatives, tracking and reporting key operational metrics and ensuring inspection readiness
Collaborate with cross-functional groups through AveXis
Learn and comply with regulations set by KGI, AveXis, and national/global regulatory agencies
The AveXis-KGI Fellow will have academic responsibilities at the KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences which may include precepting students, publishing abstracts, posters, and representing the fellowship to pharmacy students

AveXis, Inc. is a clinical-stage gene therapy company, dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product candidate, AVXS-101, is our proprietary gene therapy product candidate currently in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, Type 1, the leading genetic cause of infant mortality, and for the treatment of SMA Type 2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has granted AVXS-101 Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of all types of SMA and Breakthrough Therapy Designation, as well as Fast Track Designation for the treatment of SMA Type 1. In addition to developing AVXS-101 neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome (RTT) and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.
Education and Experience:
A successful candidate must be a PharmD graduate from an accredited institution. Substantial background knowledge in a related field is a plus. All candidates must have the right to work in the USA.
Strong work ethic and sense of adaptability. Candidate must demonstrate ability to take direction and work both independently and as part of a team.
Pro-active approach to assigned responsibilities, with responsiveness to prioritize according to needs of the research project.
Reliability, strong attention to detail, accuracy and effective organizational skills in planning and overseeing multiple parallel long-term experiments.
Experience with gathering, processing, analyzing and critically evaluating large volumes of data.
Commitment to communicating respectfully and effectively withing the team.
Demonstrated scientific writing skills.
