View Req 56923BR : Senior Director- Real World Data and Analytics
Purpose Develop a compelling vision for Real World Data (RWD) in the pharmaceutical industry and drive Novo Nordisk to align, invest and deliver on that vision. Partner with key stakeholders to inform the United States (US) product evidence generation plans in diabetes, obesity and Biopharm therapeutic areas. Lead and inspire and a team of researchers to deliver value to the business and improve patient care through the use of RWD. Drive innovation and bring in an entrepreneurial zeal to do things differently and use RWD to improve patient care and differentiate Novo Nordisk.
Relationships Reports directly to the Executive Director of Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) & Analytics and has the responsibility to manage the Real World Data analytics team. This is a US affiliate role focused on developing the US RWD vision for Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI). As a key and visible RWD leader and champion in the US enterprise, he/she will engage the clinical and commercial organization in increasing awareness of RWD, contributing to product evidence strategies, use of RWD and future investments in RWD. This will require significant interactions with all levels of leadership in the Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), medical, commercial functions in the US and global in Copenhagen.
Essential Functions Develop and drive an RWD vision for NNI: Develop a compelling vision for RWD in the pharmaceutical industry and drive Novo Nordisk to align, invest and deliver on that vision. The senior director understands the RWD environment from a variety of perspectives – external stakeholders (health systems, payers, Food & Drug Administration (FDA)), RWD experts, pharmaceutical companies and develops a vision and strategy for Novo Nordisk.
Communicate and align with overall global RWE vision: Our global counterparts have progressed on a global strategy for Real World Evidence (RWE) through the RWE team in market access and the global epidemiology team. The role will also align and partner with the global teams and create a joint RWE vision.
Thought leadership in the RWD external environment: The RWE environment is fast changing, especially in the regulatory, digital tool and predictive analytics space. In time, the Senior Director could well become a visible industry thought leader in the RWD space.
Execute on evidence generation plans: The Senior director will lead a team of researchers who will execute on the evidence generation plans e.g. real world data studies and pragmatic trial support
Develop and share deep disease area knowledge and insights: The role will lead a team of researchers to generate insights into the disease areas e.g. Epidemiological packages; local prevalence and burden maps. These insights will help marketing and medical develop overall and localized customer strategies.
Support value based contracting: The role will lead a team that partners with the Value evidence and outcomes team to provide data and analytics support to value based contracting.
Develop strategy to enhance emerging areas of RWD analytics: The team will also focus on driving conversations and evidence generation in emerging areas e.g. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and RWE, predictive analytics, data from digital tools, artificial intelligence and its use in supporting patient care.
Develop and lead a high performance team: The senior director will hire and lead a team of multidisciplinary researchers with varied backgrounds. The lead is expected to inspire innovation and bring in an entrepreneurial zeal to do things differently and use RWD to improve patient care and differentiate Novo Nordisk.
Development of People Ensure that reporting personnel have 3P forms with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
A PhD or Masters/PharmD degree in appropriate field (heath economics, epidemiology, outcomes research, public health, business/health services research, biostatistics, computer science)
Requires a minimum of 13 years progressively increasing related experience area of specialty; pharma industry preferred
At least 10 years of experience in conducting real world data research and analytics
At least 3 years of supervisory experience is preferred
Advanced knowledge and experience in real world data analytics and research e.g. health services research, database studies, real world research, evaluation of health care interventions, outcomes research, epidemiological research, pragmatic trials. In addition, knowledge or awareness of artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced predictive analytics, will be a plus but not required
Experience working in similar roles in pharma is preferred but not a must. Experience working in similar roles in vendors, payers and health systems is also considered
Knowledge of health care systems in the U.S., including managed care organizations, integrated health systems, PBMs, Medicare, and Medicaid is a plus
Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications
Proven record of outstanding written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with experience interacting with and presenting to key customers
Demonstrated track record of strategic thinking and managing business complexity
