The Clinical Pharmacist – Behavioral Health will provide collaborative pharmaceutical care to patients receiving treatment for mental illness or other behavioral health needs. The pharmacist will work with the behavioral health treatment team as well as any other care providers to coordinate medication management. Additionally, the pharmacist will work in collaboration with pharmacy leadership, the behavioral health providers, and the pharmacies to monitor the drug utilization, supportive drug therapy utilization, adverse drug reactions, therapeutic regimens, and patient and provider safety.The pharmacist will act as a preceptor for pharmacy students and PGY-1 residents, and will provide didactic instruction to second year medical students.

Collaborates with the Clinical Coordinator in developing and implementing clinical activities for pharmacy staff.
Educates medical residents/interns, pharmacy residents, case managers, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, and students.
Assists in developing pharmacy policies and procedures related to behavioral health medications, treatment of behavioral health conditions and effects of treatment, adherence to best practices, and drug utilization.
Mentors pharmacists, pharmacy residents, and students.
Interacts with health care professionals; participates in medical rounds as needed.
Participates in order entry and related monitoring activities, including:
Allergy and allergy history clarifications
Drug appropriateness for condition
Interactions including drug/drug, drug/food, and drug/lab
Renal and hepatic function
Culture and sensitivity
INR/PTT/PT and other related lab values
IV to PO streamlining
Implements and coordinates investigational protocols as required and in cooperation with the investigational drug service, as needed.
Provides drug information.
Attends committee meetings as required.
Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to age of the patient treated.
Completes and maintains departmental competencies as related to the position.

ASHP Accredited PGY-1 Residency Required
PGY-2 Behavioral Health Residency or equivalent experience strongly preferred
Pennsylvania and New Jersey pharmacist license or licensure eligibility required.
